There is nothing like just trying to find something healthy to eat just a few minutes between flights. Between pizza, hot dogs and giant fries and candy bags, as long as you don’t eat granola and syrup fruit at the bottom of the cup, you’ll find a container of celery and carrot with hummus. Of course, there are granola and energy bars for every brand.
But these are not equivalent to a meal.
The good news is that you can do healthy food at the airport as long as you do your research beforehand and know exactly where in a limited time.
Here are some options for your next flight.
Craftsman Market
Aerial Food operates artisan markets at several airports in the United States, including San Diego International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Oakland International Airport. The focus is on scraping food with ingredients sourced by local suppliers and you will find made sandwiches and salads topped with homemade seasonings. Craftsman Market packaged foods are available on other altitude food media such as food at Denver International Airport, where you will find salads for kale, sweet potato, dates, apples and goat cheese.
Boston Public Market
Inspired by the famous locations in the Boston Public Market, which include many of the same vendors and freshly prepared healthy meals. Selections range from Red’s best New England seafood to Mother Juice’s plant-based choices.
Starbucks
Yes, in the pastry box, Starbucks has more to offer besides those chocolate croissants and lemon pound cake slices. Its protein box has nuts, cheese, fruits, such as grapes or apple slices, and cooked eggs. Spinach, feta and egg whites are covered with calories, trans fat and sugar, and are a good source of protein and fiber. Depending on availability, you can also find a chicken and quinwar protein bowl with black beans and vegetables, as well as a vegetable tray and fruit cup.
chipotle
The great thing about Chipotle is that you can control meals at airports across the United States. Instead of tortilla wraps, choose a bowl of vegetables topped with beans, avocado sauce (avocado is high in fat but healthy) and salsa. Add cheese and sour cream moderately to balance.
Jamba Juice
It seems like every airport you go to has a jamba juice, a symbolic symbol of nutrition by packaging its smoothies in fruits, vegetables and superfoods. Jamba Juice also offers options other than juices, such as smoothie bowls, waffles and granola bowls, oatmeal and egg sandwiches, and 12 grams of protein for only 320 calories.
