    Publisher: Dark Horse Book

Note: For one of the main characters in the book, this would be a destructive review. If you want to avoid spoilers, be sure to scroll down to the final summary.

reverse It is the latest graphic novel of the writer Alex de Campithe artist he collaborates with Skylar partridge and color artists Kelly Fitpatrick Provide engaging reading. reverse On the surface, a modern fantasy story accompanied by familiar elements, this magic restores the body interchange of modern society and magic. While common genre conventions do be used, De Campi and the team use these metaphors to explore the entire topic.

The central theme of this book revolves around another– Concepts enable people to group anyone who does not meet the normal definition. Another is expressed in many different and intersecting ways in reverse. Together with the dual protagonists of TRE and Niko. TRE is a young black girl suffering from anonymous medical condition that makes her a wanderer in the school, and Niko is a magical trans fighter who is cursed to live on a magic sword. Another monster that represents leaving the forest for food. The other is the forest itself, with many different symbolic meanings on it, and I can’t start all of these naming here.

concept Another Often used by malicious actors and fascists, they can seize power by preying on people’s fears of the unknown and different. reverse It proved this with James Dickerson, president of the Magic Academy.

De Campi wrote Dickerson in a clear fascist ruler. Initially, he was listed as a politician, selling seemingly benign and acceptable actions such as travel bans and pushing for maximum containment, if not eliminating elements of magic. These concepts are brought to the other’s fear by citizens, which brings them joy. They enabled and agreed to Dixon to seize power. As the story progresses, the mask slips further through fascist remarks and gestures. Dixon even claimed that through him and his actions “they” will make the city great again. It wasn’t until Robin Grant’s intervention that people started to turn on Dickerson.

Obviously, what de Campi is going to do, and I appreciate it for that. What is important now than at any time in my life is to explore the rise of fascism clearly. another The human beings who watch the world may be a reflection of humanity, but it is important to understand those feelings of fear and anxiety are to prevent you from leaving yourself victim to the Craven politicians and elites who are trying to seize power.

theme another Not always about fear, rejection, and hatred. It might also be about acceptance. These themes are explored in a variety of ways, including Dr. Grant not only accepts that her daughter can transform into this magical warrior, but that one of her sons, Anthony, becomes a bird human when a magical artifact appears. Dr. Grant thought it was a curse and initially rejected the idea that it was Anthony’s choice, but accepted what Anthony wanted once he could convey it.

Change from fear to acceptance another One of my favorite running spots is this family who wishes to be named – a young couple and their children. Throughout the book, we see the couple hiding the magical condition of their baby (with a pair of corners on their heads) and utterly fear and blame the forest. In overtime, they start to accept that their kids are just different and there is nothing to blame. They begin to accept the magical situation of their children as facts and not hide them. It’s more subtle than other moments, but it’s a great way to strengthen the subject.

The art of Skylar Partridge and Kelly Fitzpatrick complements the book’s theme very well. Partridge’s line work is clear and clean, and it can focus well on the emotions and expressions of the characters. The best comparison I can think of is Jamie McKelvie or Mike Allred. These numbers have some inherent stiffness, but it manifests itself in many other ways to be so irrelevant. Partridge’s characters express a variety of feelings, from joy, excitement and mischief, regret, anger, sadness and remorse. The reason Dr. Grant accepts Anthony’s scene so good is because of the pencil. The weight of this scene, along with many others, is obvious.

Fitzpatrick painted hell from this book. They mainly use flat coloring throughout the book. The apartment complements the partridge route in a beautiful way. Together they created a comic that looks visually clean but full of emotion. Flat coloring does have the risk of modern printing technology looking too dazzling, but Fitzpatrick avoids this problem by giving the page texture. It is subtle, but evocative. It can make the art bigger and combine with the use of postal codes, reversing the classic comic feel but with a modern update.

Overall, Reversal is an absolutely engaging book, a real page. I started reading it for a few days, but read it in one breath because I couldn’t let it go. Its theme plays in a way that feels organic, even if sometimes it is as subtle as it is on the face. The truth is that as a society we can use it less cleverly when we learn not to fear each other but to accept that it is a part of our lives and adds to our existence. Art is beautiful and can complement this story well. I will not want to discuss my only real problem with the comics, and this comes from the conclusion of the crisis in the Cursed Forest. Dr. Grant’s passionless speech on social media and the tourism industry can solve the dilemma of monsters to solve the crisis. Its execution felt rushed, so the news came. That said, I know that most graphic novels have a page limit, and publishers struggle to get and given the reality of comics production generals, I understand why the ending develops in its way. It probably won’t get sick perfect landing, the reversal is still very pleasant and worth a read.

    Final judgment: purchase
