exist Amphibianscreated by the animated adventure series Matt BrayAnne Boonchuy (Brenda Song) Go to the parallel dimension, in which she is entangled in the nominal world. The series is from 2019 to 2022, but later this month, there are some exciting things to do with the show’s fan corps. March 25Th2025, The art of amphibians From Tokyo. With text Drew Taylor and illustrations of many artists who perform, The art of amphibians It’s a must for fans of the series.
To celebrate the book’s release, Comics Beat caught up with Braly via email. We asked about the development of the series, about the creation of The art of amphibians About our next expectations for Blair and the world Amphibians.
Avery and Ollie Kaplan: Alex Hirsch, you work with Gravity droppoint out that your expertise includes roles such as Northwest Pacifica. Can you tell us how this tendency to work with itDespicable girl– Style of teenagers” from?
Matt Braly: I think it’s just my personality. My friends always thought I was trendy, so I thought I found myself attracted to characters like that.
When Pacifica Northwest was introduced Gravity dropshe just intends to be Mabel’s foil…but when my board partner Alonso Ramirez Ramos I immediately got our immediate script, “She is the star!”
Kaplans: As huge Trekkies we have to ask practice. Can you tell us anything about this pitch? Is there any element entering Amphibians?
They took: SOOORT. main character practice is an extraordinary person who finds himself assigned to “the worst ship in the fleet.” So both he and Anne are characters trapped in places they don’t want to be.
As a reward, I included my sketch practice It can be shared with readers as early as 2014. There are about three inappropriate names in one tit.
capplane: You mentioned in a social media article that it “goes all out to develop the deck” Amphibians. I’m curious if you can tell us what this collaborative process looks like?
They took: Therefore, one of the feedback we received from the study was that Sprig Focus tested the children poorly. They don’t like what the original version of the character is. After this we do reach out to everyone and everyone in the building. We got some really crazy exploration from all kinds of artists – and at the same time it was amazing and a little daunting.
Kaplans: You are involved The art of amphibians? How did this book come together?
They took: After the sale is successful Massi’s DiaryTokyopop and I talked about the next step. An art book has always been my dream. Animated TV shows, especially not publishing a lot of such collections – which are common for movies, but very rare for shows.
So for our next book, I make sure it is a book of art. I will not miss this opportunity to live forever and celebrate our hard work. As for my involvement, I went back to Disney for weeks and selected the works listed in this book.
Kaplan: Is there anything in it? The art of amphibians Are you particularly excited about people studying?
They took: I’m glad people see our thought process in terms of roles and environments. When you watch a finished TV show, there is so much conceptual work left on the floor of the cutting room and it is always fascinating.
Mrs. Crocker is one of our beloved town residents who once had gel-like hair from what looks like Frog egg. It’s disgusting, though I’m glad we changed it – you can see it yourself in the book now!
Kaplans: One of the things to do about neatness The art of amphibians It is the focus of episode by episode, including the Season 2 episode “The Wax Museum”. We’re curious whether to refer to it Gravity drop (or Amphibians Quote Owl’s houseWas it just an interesting Easter egg or was there a discussion of the larger crossover?
They took: Never seriously discussed crossover activities, but I think we really like to refer to each other and wink at the audience, the shows have similar DNA and philosophy.
Amphibians and Owl’s house Of course it is all Gravity drop Alum makes this connection natural. I would love to see a crossover one day, but don’t think you can serve these three shows and their amazing characters, and it’s something less than 90 minutes – essentially a movie.
Kaplans: The content is this The art of amphibiansThe show is deeply influenced by your own experiences, family history and perspectives. Can you give us a deep dive into an experience of animated shows like bringing some people out, but with such personal elements?
They took: I think being a creator of a show means putting yourself there and wanting people to be accepted and kind. When you find that everyone on the internet has Really strong A little cartoon show about you.
That said, I’m particularly grateful for people’s love of Mrs. Boonchuy’s voice in Season 3, he happens to be mine Actual Very real Mother. I think if people are over-criticizing this character haha, I can’t accept it.
Kaplan: In season 3, Anne and Plantain head to Los Angeles. Can you tell us about the process of transforming real-world locations into animation fields? Are you facing any particular challenges?
They took: Our biggest challenge is to make Los Angeles look as fun and exciting as the amphibian world. We don’t want viewers to be bored with seeing the city skyline plot after the episode.
Part of our mind is really trying to portray the city through the eyes of the foot family. How would a giant talk frog think of our highways and restaurants? How would they view Cineplex? We are trying to design the world from this POV.
capplane: Amphibians Nominated for two GLAAD awards. Is it important for you to include this representation in the show?
They took: A large portion of the amphibian team is identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
When you manage a diverse team, it is very important for you to make sure the show is also diverse. When people can see their characters, their eyes light up, which is not a feeling you quickly forget.
capplane: Do we know you are working on a new show? Do you have any information about your upcoming project?
They took: I’m working on something now – I’m making a feature-length movie for different studios and releasing an action/adventure graphic novel with Skybound this summer.
If you want to follow my work, please check out my social media (@radrappy). I’m really grateful!
Kaplans: Do you want us to include it?
They took: The art of amphibians Not the last one Amphibians We’re making a book with Tokyopop – we have another very exciting project that is now writing and drawing…I can’t say Too many But as a tip, I can laugh at it as about Sprigg’s exciting adventure with his friends.
The art of amphibians Starting March 25, it will be available at your local bookstore and/or public librariesTh2025.
