Comic-Con International (SDCC) is departing for Málaga, Spain.
The acclaimed event is the first trip outside the United States through an IMG license promotion agreement. The European debut is scheduled for September.
“We are excited to celebrate comics and pop art and share the unique spirit of Comic-Con with audiences in Europe. We cannot find a more dynamic, passionate and creative city to start this exciting new chapter for fans and creators. The announcement was published at an event held by actor, director and screenwriter Santiago Segura; Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, president of Junta de Andalucía; Francisco de Málaga Mayor Francisco de la Torre Prados; Spanish Dentsu and Portugal CEO Jaime López-Francos were also present.
The military government and the Malaga City Council are committed to making the city the capital of popular art in Europe. “For the Andalusian government, supporting this event means solidifying Andalusia as a reference in digital art and popular culture and backed by the most powerful gathering of talent,” Moreno Bonilla said. “…I am confident that in these three years the San Diego Comic Con expansion to Malaga will be successful, thanks to the support of the professionals attending the event and the network of local businesses.”
In addition to the special guests, the announcement also shows the Infinity Gauntlet. Inspired by artifacts from the Avengers: Infinity Warthe collection was designed by the gentle giant and produced by Adam Mirzoeff. It has six gems, called an infinite collection of gemstones. The Infinity Gauntlet has over 150 carats and costs more than $25 million. It was introduced at SDCC in 2022; SDCC regards the display as a symbolic continuation of the Spanish Congress legacy.
