Given that Playmates focus on TMNT brands related to animation and movies, McFarlane Toys’ numbers will be based on IDW publishing. The display of prototype numbers was shown, but photography was not allowed. By design, they are indeed based on the design of various artists of IDW, e.g. Mateus Santolouco. When this fall arrives, “the upcoming series will feature highly detailed 5-inch collectible characters, each with a meticulous attention to detail, designed to capture the unique nature and personality of the TMNT characters. The numbers have been articulated completely and bring an additional bonus to collectors and fans – a reprinted classic comic book that tells the iconic teen ninja turtle story of IDW Publishing.”
Todd McFarlaneMcFarlane Toys’ founder and CEO expressed his excitement:
“As a lifelong fanatic and professional, this partnership is deep down inside me. I was there decades ago, when the first issue of TMNT comics was sold and watched from a distance, as the franchise had exploded as a comprehensive phenomenon around the world. To be able to join forces with the good guys who consume Paramount and bring some exciting characters from those original comics, this will keep comic fanatics following behind. It will be fun for us all!”
The official press release details are as follows:
The upcoming series will feature highly detailed 7-inch action figures, each with a meticulous attention to detail, aiming to capture the original Mortal Kombat character’s Klassic design. These figures have been fully articulated and will include other accessories for sale in solo and multi-packages.
The early effects were first revealed in the IGN Fan Fest live broadcast on February 28, teasing fan favorite characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Kang, Kitana and Mileena, and there’s more to it. The highly anticipated collection will be launched in the summer of 2025 and will be available online and through select retailers.
