On Wednesday, Opus Agency announced the acquisition of our retained company (CWK), an event marketing and brand experience agency with offices in Sydney, Australia and Singapore, as well as a hub in New Zealand. Financial details for the transaction have not been disclosed, but the acquisition was conducted by the parent company of the Opus Group, owned by a private equity firm’s growth catalyst partner.
Opus Agency said the acquisition was key to its growth strategy, which focused on entering new markets, in this case, the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The company also said it will benefit from CWK’s content creation, animation and media talent.
Apac is now leading the way in tourism recovery. The announcement of Opus Group was extended to the region in April 1924, in the British Trade Fair organization.
CWK founder Nigel Ruffell will serve as Executive Vice President of Asia Pacific and report directly to Opus Agency President Dena Lowery. CWK’s senior leadership will also join Opus Agency’s extended leadership team. The employees of more than 70 employees did not have expected layoffs.
Since ownership of the growth catalyst partner, Opus Group has acquired nine companies in December 2022, including Verve, a European-centric experience agency in December 2022 and MAS Event + Design in May 2018 (now known as for MAS). The two institutions continue to operate under their own brands and MAS.
Growth Catalyst Partners will calculate Dimension Studio in real-time and virtual world production expert Dimension Studio in its portfolio, as well as two media companies as part of its products, CyberRisk Alliance and the Government Executive Media Group.
