Nielsen rival Luminate has released streaming charts for some time and released the year-end streaming market analysis some time ago, and its report (among other things) provides a lot about Star Wars on Disney+ Performance insights. From a more general perspective, Disney+’s performance, at least in terms of original streaming content.
This is the first time we have received numbers for shows like Skeleton Staff or even Bad Batches in this report!
As we all know, the skeleton crew never made a bright layer or Nelson streaming chart. Nelson finally released the weekly rankings for the finale of the Skeleton Crew Series, and it didn’t make the top 10 chart again.
But how bad is it? Luminate’s report does include figures for the first five episodes of Skeleton Staff (all 2024 episodes) and figures for Bad Batch released by 2024. Do you think the #1 original show on Disney+ is in 2024? How compared to the competition?
Click to see how Disney+ performed well in 2024 in 2024. Spoiler: It’s really bad! Maybe worse than you think.

2024’s Star Wars
First, let’s revisit the Assistant, the Luminate report includes a chart that plots the observation time of all episodes throughout the weekday, and we can learn a lot from it (note: all numbers are us, not globally!): ):

So what are we seeing here? We see that most people actually watch new episodes two days before release, i.e. they don’t wait for the weekend to catch up, but instead watch the plot after release or not soon. What you can also see is that the initial peak is roughly the same as the series evolves, and if I have to guess it might be made up of the most stubborn fans who can’t wait to see a new episode. But as the series progressed, the decline became increasingly dramatic, which meant that viewing volumes dropped rapidly after day 1, which almost certainly meant that the serfs had more casual viewers, those who were not viewed on the day of release .
However, according to Luminate, it was a sharp drop in the series finale and it lost a lot of viewers. On Day 1, it peaked without even 1 million views.
Also, be aware of how low the numbers are, with most assisted episodes peaking at just 1.5 million views on the day of release. This is a high budget series that was once very popular for franchise.
Seeing this, even the most determined Servant fans should now understand why Disney cuts the show.
But how about the skeleton crew? Since the show never made the top 10, we don’t have chart numbers, but luckily Luminate does include the first five episodes of numbers (released in 2024). And the numbers are eye-opening!

Here, the performance of Ahsoka, the attendant and the skeleton staff for the first five weeks was compared.
As you can see, the numbers for the skeleton crew are so good. Even the characters of the already bad servants are not enough. If you’re wondering, all of these shows released in Week 1 will explain the rise in Week 2. But as Ahsoka gradually gains viewing time, as the series progresses, the audience of the Acolyte shed and a complimentary thing, even if you call it, the bone crew has at least a fairly stable, even very low numbers The same is true. This means the most loyal fans are watching all the time. A rough estimate is that about 5 million people watched every episode (in the United States). The Mandalorian easily gets 250,000-300,000 views per episode. Star Wars lost over 80% of its audience on Disney+ in 2024.
Even more shocking for Lucasfilm and Disney, at least, the word of mouth has actually had no impact. Most people like or even like skeleton workers. The reviews are positive, the audience, most people love the series very much and find it fun, fun and worth your time.
However, none of this will turn it into a better viewing character. There are probably many reasons why the skeleton crew is shocking. Perhaps most fans don’t want kids as main characters, maybe the attendant turns so much that they don’t even bother with the skeleton crew anymore. The end result is important: Skeleton crew is Disney+’s worst performing Star Wars live action series ever. Most episodes have been watched for less than 200 million minutes.
Luminate also has the top 10 Disney+ original shows. What do you think is the most successful original series for Disney+ in 2024? Spoiler: No Star Wars.

Percy Jackson’s figures would be higher if Luminate included the first week of release.
Think of things as a perspective: Luminate also has the top 10 original series rankings for 2024. #1 tricked me on Netflix with 12.1 billion minutes of streaming. #10’s show is love or blind, and also Netflix, with 7.38 billion minutes. Disney’s best performing series Percy Jackson has only had the #1 show to watch time. If we add missing plots, it’s probably 30%.
What’s really insightful here is that Luminate has numbers in the earlier seasons of other shows as well. Ahsoka is slightly better than Mandalorian, and despite my Luke Skywalker in the Season 2 finale, Mandalorian Surprise Season 2 and Not in the top ten, but seasons 3 and 1. But, it also tells us that the Mandalorians outperformed the brand new skeleton crew in all three seasons and may have been nearly as big as the assistant and Agatha throughout the three seasons. My guess is that the number for Season 2 is on the court in Season 1, so the total observation time for the Mandalorians is about 2.1 billion minutes in all three seasons in 2024.
The numbers for the entire Echo season are worse than any two new episodes of the Mandalorians. The Echo is by far the worst Marvel performance on Disney+. Agatha has always been willing to conceive it as a “success”, worse than the supporter, and another failure.
And, the five-episode skeleton crew combination only hits the same viewing time as the average new episode of Mandalorian, and the Mandalorian Season 3 (released in 2023) almost surpasses Season 3, this is really shocking. This tells you how much Star Wars has fallen.
Bad batch numbers are also bad. The total of all 47 episodes is only 923 million minutes of viewing time. Again, this is an episode about the Mandalorian, spread throughout the season. Even if 100% of this is watching season 3 (with 15 episodes of Season 3), it’s an average of 61.53 million minutes of viewing time per episode, which is actually much less because it takes a lot of minutes to watch older ones Episode. Starting from the previous season. No wonder the series could almost be cancelled prematurely and somehow cancelled the series’ conclusions in the conclusion.
What about the overall Markeshare when it comes to original content?

The smaller Apple TV+ and Paramount+ outperform their bigger rival Disney+. However, none of this can keep up with Netflix, which just dominates the original content market. Of course, the numbers here are affected by the number of original shows and how many streaming services are there.
But it’s easy to see why Disney carefully cuts down the production of the original show, literally they can almost pay attention to the service, and that’s their archive content or something like blue that allows people to subscribe This service.
Then what can we say?
Star Wars is in a serious crisis. These shows are too expensive and have a high budget and failed on Disney+ in 2024. The commodity failed, and Hasbro confirmed this in its two recent earnings reports. Video games performed extremely well, which was a huge failure of Ubisoft. No Star Wars tag has achieved any success in 2024.
As a result, questions about future plans for the franchise are becoming increasingly important. Perhaps the Mandalorian movie of the time seemed like a good choice, when it was easily their most successful new character, even “Baby Yoda” and even a pop culture phenomenon for the time being. But this is 2019 and 2020. Then Season 3 happened. The film follows three years later. Meanwhile, Leslye Headland burned the house with his servants. I still think Lucasfilm has greatly underestimated the negative effects of this abominable, toxic performance from the host of the narcissistic show, which has made the series all cover her own and her family’s issues.
Andor will return to Disney+ in April. It would be interesting to see its performance. Will it improve on the numbers in Season 1? If so, then maybe things might turn around. If the numbers are even worse, all alarm bells should ring at Disney. Because at that time, the franchise might actually end due to a lack of general interest.
Others: Luminate reports have more interesting charts that see more. It’s worth noting how bad the rings performed for Amazon in Season 2 are. While Season 3 is just Greenlit recently, if Season 3 doesn’t turn the boat around, it might be the last one. Because Season 2 lost 60% of its ratings.
Nielsen also released charts for 2024, but unlike Luminate, they also include licensed content. Here, things are much more positive at Disney. Bluey is the most watched streaming performance of 2024, streaming for 55.62 billion minutes. Due to suspicion, many people obviously subscribed to Disney+ for their kids.
The most watched movie is also on Disney+, with the evergreen Moana reaching 13.03 billion minutes. Again, the fact that most people get Disney+ with their archives and blue and child-centric content rather than any originals from the more adult market. Moana has done a great job with any other newly released film on Disney+ (Inside Out 2).
One thing you learn from Nielsen is that old content beats new original shows. None of the top 10 streaming shows overall are streaming originals, all of which are licensed and not old shows like Bluey, Gray’s Anatomy, Family Guy, Big Bang Theory or NCIS.
So Disney+ is not doom and melancholy. People love their animation content. Bluey is an out-of-control success. Just their original work. But for Star Wars, it certainly was doom and melancholy (and frankly surprised Disney+). Now, the only question is whether they can turn the ship around somehow or the end of the Star Wars series, as everyone will adjust. The report said various programs are under development. But that’s not interesting. I believe a lot will depend on the performance of the Mandalor and Grog movies and the 2026 Ahsoka Season 2. If you add Hasbro’s recent review about Star Wars, I also believe the future of Hasbro toy license will depend on success. 2026 content.
I firmly believe that Star Wars needs to be reset. Not just movies and shows. But especially at Lucasfilm, basically every person in charge of this chaos needs to be replaced. Including Dave Filoni, he was part of the problem. It’s not just Katherine Kennedy who really needs retirement. Now. She has already mismanaged Star Wars. Her crazy plan to make a Rey movie could be the last nail in the coffin. This needs to be stopped immediately before it is too late. Star Wars is supporting it for life. And there is no guarantee that the Mandalorians will save the franchise again as they did in 2019/20.
