The impact of diamond bankruptcy continues to disappear throughout the comics industry as two other publishers of diamond distribution lay off employees.
Kevin Ketner, Who is the editor of Ablaze Publishing, published today:
Ketner, formerly in the dynamite comics, edited many champions, including the nearly dead and powerful savage editor for Ablaze, who published a wide range of graphic novels and journals, including several foreign licenses. Ablaze announced their exclusive renewal with Diamond in 2023, but has crowdfunded like many publishers in recent months.
Lysa Hawkins, Long-standing associated with Heroic Comics, currently in the editor-in-chief of Alien Books’ Heroic Line, released today on a Heroic Fan Group:
It is my honor and honor to cooperate with the Heroic Universe for more than 6 years and become an advocate of the Heroic Universe. I hope the aliens and heroes are the only ones. Thank you for being the best fan.
Hawkins joined Valiant, then solo publisher, in 2018, and moved to Alien when he took over Valiant as a license. Last year, she was promoted to chief editor. She has previously worked as editors at Marvel and DC. Alien Books continues to direct the leadership of Matias Timarchi, who was the U.S. division of his long-running South American publishing business a few years ago. Aside from heroism, Alien has published comics, as well as some foreign licenses, such as the upcoming I-Dragon collection, which are also beginning.
Smaller publishers with no other distribution options have long been affected by the diamond status. It was a cruel week for comics, with both Dark Horse and IDW laying off employees.
Unfortunately, this may just be the beginning of cutting more publishers. When things start to build again (and inevitably it will), there will be some good editorialists there to hire.
