Satoko is the beautiful daughter of a nobleman who suffers from a disease that does not allow her to live long…but someone there dies impatiently. She was kidnapped and murdered by the mysterious assassin Shinpei, with a wild, dark expression in his eyes.
Satoko begs Shinpei to avoid her, but he will only do so if she offers something of high value. Satoko desperately provided herself with marriage…and her fears and fears, Shinpei accepted it. Will love bloom between them, or will it just be danger and lies?
The premise of comics is something I am interested in. I’m a fool with the dangerous elements that exist in a good romance and story, especially in Shinpei, which caught my attention. I never imagined Shinpei as creepy as he portrayed in art. He was also very cold to the person who chopped his arms and legs. After all, killing is his profession.
When I first glanced at him, I wondered about the idea of how he could have entered marriage. Yes, Satoko is pretty, but other than that, he doesn’t know much about her…until Satoko tells him that she will die sooner. Although this is not clearly articulated, I’m sure this detail attracted Shinpei, who has been dying and expects to end up in hell.
Shinpei is deadly, disturbing, and soon devoted to Satoko. He wanted a marriage with all his heart and promised that Satoko would “make her a happy woman” (he told her when he was covered in blood). Strangely, you can almost glimpse this throughout the story! Shinpei will be able to be romantic, but then he takes Satoko to look at the fireflies in the beautiful woods that seem unimaginable. He assured her his dedication, and in all his madness you can see that he is capable.
The question is, will Satoko allow Shinpei to love her, or will she just use him to prolong her almost no life left?
Satoko’s disease that kills her does not make her weak. When it comes to relationships with her sister Miwako, she insists on herself, she is very passively radical and is jealous of Satoko’s beauty and potential suitors. Miwako cried and cried to her mother (Satoko’s stepmother), and the expression on the woman’s face on the panel showed that there was some hatred there. Is it enough for her to hire a killer to kill Satoko? It’s too early to say it now, and the first volume does not reveal the identity of the person who ordered the attack. That would be an ongoing mystery.
Once Satoko is kidnapped, her quick thinking prevents Shinpei from killing her. Satoko realized that because she was the daughter of the noble, it meant wealth and comfort for her and her husband. That’s why she’s willing to marry Shinpei herself – assured him of his good life. Love never thought of the equation, but Shinpei was surprised by little dedication. She never thought he would be taken away by him with her, but he was.
I’ll cheer for them. It’s a weird pairing, full of tension and tricks, but I really think if Shinpei continues to be surprised by Satoko, how enthusiastic his relationship is, Satoko learns not to fear Shinpei, they have a chance to have a real relationship blossoming.
If you’re looking for a romantic story with chaos and mystery, it’s just Firefly Wedding. The art is expressive and gorgeous, the protagonist is fascinating, and the story draws you from the beginning. Who can survive, let alone this relationship? Only when you continue reading will you find that yes, this is worth reading.
