In the comics industry’s one-month popularity, IDW confirmed that it has laid off employees. A statement was issued:
“IDW made a difficult decision to reduce staff as part of the ongoing operational effort to simplify. We thank those affected for their contributions and wish them the best efforts in the future.”
However, with IDW’s smaller staff, only two employees were fired this round. We were told that IDW Entertainment, the department that oversees IDW’s media production, has been effectively shut down because the last remaining employee has been fired. IDW Publishing, another division of parent company IDW Media Holdings, remains in place.
IDW just received a revenue call on Monday, and CEO Davidi Jonas said that after the diamond went bankrupt, the company would survive. The report shows that operating losses have dropped significantly, but revenue has not increased, but operating expenses have dropped.
Update: This story has been updated to reflect that only two employees were fired.
