It’s been a while since we talked about rumors, well, this time it’s more “leaks” than “rumors,” and one of the sources is even The Hollywood Reporter . So there’s really no YouTube prank this time, more like a credible leak about what’s to come! Of course, this article will contain spoilers, so please avoid if you are allergic to spoilers! Click through to see all the rumors and leaks!

    Star Wars Rumor Zone

You’re about to enter the Star Wars rumor zone!

As expected, leaks for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie are coming.

The source is usually Bespin Bulletin, a serious leaker.

Okay, let’s talk about the Mandalorian movie first.

Sigourney Weaver is reportedly among them. Apparently just a small role. She will play the role of a New Republic colonel.

The movie itself is indeed strange, being a sequel to the animated Clone Wars movie from many moons ago. The plot of the movie has Ahsoka, Anakin and company having to rescue a baby cabin after being kidnapped. Well, it turns out Hurt is an adult now, but still in a lot of trouble. Reports suggest that the Hutt, last seen in The Book of Boba Fett , has a bounty/strike on him. While it’s not 100% confirmed, the New Republic apparently tasked Din Djarin with rescuing Rotta the Hutt (formerly Stinky) from the villain, but rumors suggest that , it was indeed NR who hired Din to save Rota.

The Bespin Bulletin had more to say about Rotta… I reiterate, he is a serious leaker and will not post BS rumors just for clicks. So, according to his scoop, Lotta the Hutt is a “buff” and is actually a gladiator. Hmm…okay. I bet it would be fun and actually pretty believable to see a giant slug creature slowly crawling around the arena taking out opponents left and right? ? A Hutt as a buff gladiator? His weapon of choice is a vibrosword or something similar. Lotta will be voiced by Jeremy Allan White (who starred in the hit streaming show Bear).

Mando’s rival is a bounty hunter last seen in Clone Wars: Ember. While people expressed doubts on social media and hoped that this might just be a subplot, it turns out that no, this is indeed the main plot of the movie. Mando saved Gladiator Lotta from another bounty hunter who was trying to kill him.

Zeb will help Mando along the way.

My two cents: this sounds horrible. Favreau and Filoni repurposed the worst stories from TCW and created a sequel with characters that most moviegoers have no idea who they are. Will they introduce Rotta and Embo correctly? Or will they be like Ahsoka, with no explanation at all and everyone who hasn’t watched Rebels scratching their head in confusion?

Since learning about these leaks, my confidence in the film has dropped to almost “zero.” I was expecting a lot… but this actually feels like a recycled Season 4 script stretched into a movie format. This doesn’t sound epic or interesting. Almost like a random monster of the week. It might be fine as the middle of Season 4 on Disney+, but as a full-length feature?

I want to say one more thing, this time the Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

Shawn Levy is still tasked with making Star Wars movies (this was known before, it was just rarely talked about). The film is supposed to be a standalone project with no ties to the Skywalker Saga or Rey at all. THR has learned that Lucasfilm is in talks with Ryan Gosling to cast all the actors in the film. We don’t know anything about the movie, though. There are no plot details yet. But filming is rumored to begin as early as fall 2025.

Levy is known for films such as Deadpool and Wolverine (the most commercially successful R-rated film of all time), Stranger Things (he directed 8 episodes), Free Guy, and more, which he also directed Night at the Museum movie. So while Levy is certainly not someone who wants to be a director like Rian Johnson, Levy has proven to be able to make fun, universally loved and entertaining films, and he’s made several genre/sci-fi films. So him making a Star Wars movie might be one of the best choices Lucasfilm has made in recent years.

But I wonder what happened to the idea of hiring mostly unknown people as leads in Star Wars movies, so people don’t have a preconceived idea of the character/actor. Ryan Gosling is of course an excellent actor, and he has starred in many science fiction movies. Although “Blade Runner 2049” was not a commercial success, the movie, like the original, was actually quite good, but Gosling There are a lot of thoughts about him, the roles he might play.

It seems to me like Lucasfilm and Disney are a little desperate to find A-list actors to star in their movies, perhaps to attract audiences, even female audiences, since Gosling is certainly popular with women. In theory, of course, men would also have someone they could identify with. So it’s probably a no-win scenario for someone like Gosling, but to be honest I actually prefer Lucas’ approach where he hired mostly unknown actors and very young actors as his leads and had Reputable and well-known actors played more minor roles. But that doesn’t mean a movie starring Sean Levy and Ryan Gosling won’t be great. I’d say if this project isn’t canceled (don’t hold your breath), it probably has a good chance of success. Unless The Mandalorian and Grogu movie leaves behind a radioactive wasteland. Then all bets are off.

One last thing: Lucasfilm is rumored to be in talks to reprise the role of Padmé in Ahsoka with Natalie Portman. However, other reports released later claimed that the rumor was false. Do whatever you want. Now that we know Hayden will be in Ahsoka Season 2, having Padme appear in flashbacks and giving us a live-action version of TCW’s four core characters: Obi-Wan, Ana Jinn, Ahsoka and Padmé also make sense. So the question of course is… why doesn’t Lucasfilm make a proper live-action series for TCW?

    That’s all for today.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Favreau and Filoni’s The Mandalorian movie will be successful, or will it give us something more along the lines of Iron Man 2? How about a Star Wars movie directed by Sean Levy and starring Ryan Gosling?
