Start your engine, put on your best pink outfit, and turn on the reading lights!
Mattel partners with TOKYOPOP to launch a series of original graphic novels inspired by the beloved Barbie and Hot Wheels toy lines. The new comic book-style story is suitable for kids ages 8 and up, so a new generation of fans can read about, race and have fun with these legendary toys.
The first titles will debut in 2026 and include a Western-style comic series based on Hot Wheels and new stories featuring fan-favorite Barbie characters. Each graphic novel showcases bold, original artwork and exciting stories that bring Mattel’s colorful world to life! As children turn the pages, they’ll discover cultural art styles, a new love of reading, and fun new ways to interact with their favorite toys like never before.
This isn’t the first time Mattel’s iconic brand has appeared in a printed comic, and it won’t be the last. Mattel recently launched her own publishing company, so more toy-inspired stories are coming soon!
The TOKYOPOP graphic novel will be available next year, and until then, there will be an extensive line of Barbie and Hot Wheels toys for you to play with.
