Shortly before the release of DreamWorks Animation dog man The movie will be released on January 31, and the Library of Congress will host a “Heroes Party” for the creators Dave Pilkey Wednesday, January 29th. Dogman: Big Jim Begins (available now), as well as his approach to teaching children about compassion and empathy in his books, and attending meet-and-greets with fans. The event also includes movie previews, photo opportunities with Dog Man costumed characters, a create-your-own comic station and a variety of other activities for children and families in the Great Hall from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. local time.
“Libraries changed my life,” Pilkey said. “As a child with dyslexia, one of my fondest memories growing up was going to the library with my mom. It helped me associate books with fun. Reading without judgment was a turning point in my life and the reason for my lifelong love of books. I am honored to be invited back to the largest library in the world. Dr. Kara Hayden [the head of the Library] and the incredible team at the Library of Congress for all their efforts in children’s literature. They are the ultimate heroes.
The library and Pilkey have previously collaborated Dave Pilkey at Homea series of educational videos posted online to help keep kids interested in art and reading at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will kick off Pilkey’s “Celebrating Heroes Around the World” international tour, which will further mark the film’s release with stops in Kansas City, Detroit, Dallas, Orlando, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Dublin, Ireland . Launched in 2016, dog man A spin-off of Pilkey’s previous hit series captain underpantsa comic strip created by George and Harold, the protagonists of these books, tells the story of a human-dog hybrid police officer. It spawned 13 titles, a video game and its own spin-off series, Catboy Comics Club (five more books were added to the series) and has sold more than 60 million copies, making it the world’s best-selling comic series in recent years. The film is directed and stars Peter Hastings (The Epic Story of Captain Underpants) as a non-verbal protagonist, star Pete Davidson, Lil Rel Howery, Isla Fisher, Liu Poppy, Stephen Root, billy boydand Ricky Gervais.
