Vampires, demons and monsters…oh my god! The Cursed Dead is a new Kickstarter for your 1:12 collection filled with creepy crawlies. I have a lot of Blade figures, but almost no vampires for him to fight, so I know I’m going to run into at least a few vampires!
These figures are brought to you by toy industry veterans such as sculptors Phil Ramirez, Adam Van Wickler and Josh Falcon. Products on Kickstarter are divided into two categories: basic figures priced at $40, and deluxe figures priced at $85. For me, the highlight of the basic characters is the very Noferatu-y Drinkers. Equipped with three hands and three heads, this is a great army builder for Blade and would also fit nicely into the Monster Force series. These monster vamps need to be bitten and scratched, so I’m glad their heads reveal fangs and sharp claws.
Basic Demons and Djinn also make great army builders for your Mystical Heroes like Ghost Rider, Hellstorm, or Dr. Nocturnal.
Deluxe figures have more parts and clothing options. The base is very thin, so I think they’re perfect for a lot of soft goods custom pieces. I fell in love with the Wendigo from SDCC, so he was a must-have in my group, but then the fly monster and the creepy Christmas Krankle came out of nowhere and grabbed me by the collar and demanded I buy it. I love the variety of monsters they spawn from this base body and hope the Jersey Devil is about to show up at some point.
The Kickstarter is now live, so check it out and pledge if you’re interested. This is a fairly short-lived event, ending on February 1, 2025, and they’ve also left some stretch goals in reserve, so if you want to buy, the sooner you commit, the better.
