As 2024 draws to a close, the event technology space is playing like a corporate game of Tetris, with companies frantically connecting the pieces to create the most comprehensive solution.

When it comes to venue booking and management in event tech news, the mantra seems to be “why build when you can partner?” This is evidenced by a wave of strategic integrations and partnerships aimed at creating centralized booking options.

On the event management side of event technology journalism, the picture is less clear. While Cvent has made four acquisitions this year, other players aren’t pulling out their checkbooks. RainFocus’s acquisition of WebEvents Global is the main exception.

The goals of all companies are the same: to deepen market penetration and provide a wider range of services within the financial capabilities of each company.

Perhaps surprisingly, while artificial intelligence figures prominently in several major tech product updates, it has yet to penetrate the industry as deeply as one might expect. The latest event technology news shows the selective deployment of artificial intelligence in specific use cases, such as Bizzabo’s Event OS Copilot and Explori’s investigative analysis tool. Overall, this suggests that event tech platforms are taking a more cautious, pragmatic approach to artificial intelligence compared to the gold rush mentality of other tech sectors.
