Fontainebleau Miami Beach unveiled its new five-story Shore Conference Center on Wednesday, offering new high-end meeting space.
Meetings and conferences are essential for hotels. “Demand for modern, luxury meeting space for business and leisure events has grown steadily in the greater Miami area over the past decade, with more than half of Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s business related to meetings and groups,” said Chief Philip Goldfarb, who operates the Fontainebleau Development Corporation. official.
The new conference center has 45,000 square feet of meeting space. These include a 16,500-square-foot ballroom, a 9,500-square-foot junior ballroom and a 7,000-square-foot rooftop deck. It is connected to Fontainebleau Miami Beach via a skywalk, adding to the resort’s 200,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
Bloomberg reports that Fontainebleau Miami Beach sold $975 million worth of commercial mortgage-backed securities to refinance debt. Some of the funds were reportedly earmarked to repay a $75 million construction loan for the new convention center.
“The Coastal Convention Center is an asset to Miami-Dade County and all of South Florida. This will open the door for us to attract larger, more flexible events,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (David Whitaker) said.
The opening of the new conference center comes just days after the resort celebrated its 70th anniversary on December 21, 2024.
