Eve Online developer CCP Games is about to launch early access to its latest blockchain-based survival game, Eve Frontier.
The Founder Access Pack will provide exclusive benefits to early participants and will enter the Closed Alpha phase starting on December 10th.
Closed Alpha includes an “always-on server” where players can explore the game’s mechanics and provide feedback, while Founder Access perks include cosmetics, premium post-launch gameplay, and community roles.
What is Eve Frontier?
Eve Frontier is a space survival game built on the Ethereum Layer 2 Redstone network.
The game will use the $EVE utility token as a core element of in-game activities. This integration allows for a unique economic model and governance structure compared to traditional games.
CCP Games has highlighted its ambition to get players more directly involved in game development and governance.
How to participate in early access?
Early access is available through three tiers of Founder Access packages priced at $29.99, $59.99 and $89.99
These packages include benefits such as exclusive in-game skins, premium subscription time after the game launches, and a “Founder” role on the game’s official Discord server. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with the development team through a regular process.
During the Closed Alpha test, players will be required to abide by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to ensure that development details remain confidential while the team collects feedback to improve the game experience.
What’s around the Eve border?
“Our long-term vision is to create an open ecosystem built, operated and managed by Frontier residents themselves,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games.
CCP Games plans to eventually release Eve Frontier as a free-to-play game. The early access phase is a testing ground for perfecting the game system and ensuring stable release. While the use of blockchain technology has elicited mixed reactions, CCP Games insists its focus remains on delivering a balanced and engaging player experience.
The studio has yet to announce a specific timeline for the game’s full release.
