The Witcher 3 There’s a great open world, amazing quests, and great storytelling, but one of my favorite parts remains Gwent, RPG space card game. Now, a year after the standalone digital version closed, this wonderful mini-game is getting a physical tabletop version.
Canadian board game manufacturer No Loading Games has partnered with Hachette Boardgames to release a physical version of “Gwent” in the third quarter of 2025, priced at $40 each. Each set will include 400 cards and a game mat with rules variations for more casual play and tournament settings. The desktop company says the physical version has the “full support” of CD Projekt Red.
The beauty of Gwent has two sides. First, it fits perfectly into the larger world The Witcher 3. Geralt, the monster slayer of Rivia, can challenge opponents and place bets in the bar or palace, collect cards and expand his reputation, including through Gwent tournaments with important ties to the storyline. Secondly, the game itself is well thought out and streamlined, allowing players to bluff and deploy clever tactics without having to engage in some of the more complex TCG mechanics. Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering.
