When you start a toy company, you don’t have to grow up.
Rockabilia, the largest independent online retailer of licensed music merchandise, is about to launch Encore Toy Co. The event will raise funds for a vinyl collectible featuring the likeness of Milo, the mascot of legendary punk band Descendents. The mascot is a caricature of lead singer Milo Aukerman.
Encore Toy Co. is owned by Rockabilia co-owner Frankie Blydenburgh and Vannen owner David Stowe. Together they plan to create collectible vinyl figures designed by and inspired by music industry icons.
“Product development is my favorite aspect of my job at Rockabilia, I’m constantly ideating new products and daydreaming about future products. Working on a project like this with new partners on a platform as powerful as Kickstarter is great for me. It’s a dream come true,” Blydenburgh said.
The company’s first collectible will be a seven-inch Milo vinyl figure. Milo first appeared in 1982 Milo goes to collegeDescendants’ first record. The mascot has appeared on every record and EP since, and can be found on everything from mugs to T-shirts.
