Atu Yongxinfang creator Stan Sakai According to a press release from Dogu Publishing, a subsidiary of Sakai, “Tokyo Comic Con” will be unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Comic Con, which will be held from December 6 to 8.
Sakai emerged after scouting across Japan for a series of new stories to be published. Tokyo Comic Con will also feature Sakai’s work, a fusion of long-running and much-loved artworks old and new Atu Yongxinfang comic series.
Exclusive Shu Sakai merchandise will also be sold. Specifically, Sakai collaborated with Japanese skateboard company SilkmasterSB to develop a pair of skateboard decks featuring scenes of Usagi and his famous sidekick Spot.
“I’m very excited to be a guest at Tokyo Comic Con!” said Sakai, who was born in Kyoto but grew up in Hawaii. “End our 40th anniversary with an unforgettable final conference of the year!”
So while it’s almost certainly too late to plan a spontaneous trip to Tokyo to see Stan, it’s definitely a fun comic event worth checking out if you happen to be there right now.
