Lego is for everyone. This statement feels inherently oversimplified or oversimplified, but it is true. As building toys continue to grow in popularity, kids of all ages are finding sets that speak to them or just fit them perfectly. And, as LEGO products have grown, they’ve expanded into the world of pop culture. Of course, there are still plenty of city or space sets to satisfy those builders’ dreams, but there are also some branded offerings from big pop culture franchises.
However, with so many options out there, deciding which one to invest in can be a bit tricky – but luckily, we’re here to help. With the holidays right around the corner, here’s a collection of awesome The Beat-approved sets from the worlds of DC, Marvel, Star Wars, video games, and more. There are plenty to choose from, and you may want to prepare your wallet accordingly in case you decide you want them all.

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell
Rivendell is one of the largest sets LEGO has ever produced, and it comes in three parts (see what I did there), all assembled into a larger creation for the High Council of Elrond. In the last moments before setting off on a possible mission, a stunning collection of 15 minifigures flesh out the expedition. The building experience here is so rich that it can easily take a while if you pace yourself accordingly and pay close attention to detail – whether it’s the forging of elven weapons or the transparent bricks that evoke the flowing streams of an idyllic paradise. The only thing missing is some score by Howard Shore to set the mood as you build.
