After completing the game’s prologue and finally stepping into the zone, you’ll head to Zalissya, the game’s rookie town. There, you’ll meet characters who help advance the story, as well as merchants, technicians, and even your first up-close and personal interactions with a faction. You also need money – well, in this universe coupons. You’ll find Media arguing with another stalker in the merchant’s shop, and if you choose to accept his mission, he will send you to a dangerous anomaly known as the Poppy Field. It’s both gorgeous and deadly.
“Poppy Field” plot introduction
Medea asks for your help in retrieving the family religious idol left on their land, buried in a cellar beneath the poppy fields. But he warns you about this area: it’s dangerous. The Poppy Field is a strange anomaly that forces stalkers to sleep and never wake up. He recommends that you bring an energy drink, which you should do. You need about eight people to survive the anomaly.
Upon arriving at the poppy fields northwest of Zalicia, you’ll encounter some mutants, but more importantly, a voice comes over the radio urging you to meet them at a nearby house northeast of the fields. Once there, you’ll meet Bomer, a lone and mysterious tracker who asks for your help. He knows where to find the cellar, but needs your help to enter the place. You can pay him 2,000 coupons or help him retrieve weapons and ammunition from the multiple corpses marked within the venue. If you choose the latter, you’ll need some energy drinks. You need one to reach the corpse and then back. The last two glasses of wine were for the cellar. However, they are primarily a precautionary measure. Depending on how panicked you are, you might only have one drink per person.
The last house to the southwest of the field has two corpses, one in the central room and one in the back bedroom, so don’t panic while dodging the petals. Keep your wits about you and search both bodies, then exit quickly.
But it’s important to note that you don’t have to help Pomor. If you want to pay him, you can. Otherwise, you can walk back and find the root cellar yourself. It is located at the far west end of the poppy field, behind two distant buildings and near the edge of the anomaly.
If you choose to help Bowmore, you’ll unlock an additional path to complete this side quest and earn unique rewards.
In summary, your options include:
- Return the icon to Mityay: In exchange for returning the religious icon to the original quest giver, Mityay, you will receive 1,000 coupons.
- trade pomer icon: If you trade the Religious Icon Bomer, you will receive the Unknown Stalker’s AR416. This is a broken but extremely powerful early game weapon that will serve you well once you pay to repair it.
- Trade the Icon, kill Bomo, and return to Mitie:Finally, you can trade the religious icon to Pomor to get a rifle as a reward, then turn around and shoot him to retrieve the icon and return it to Mityay as a reward.
At the end of the day, this is the zone. No one will judge you for cheating on the shady stalker you met there.
