Known for his vibrant “kawakakkoii” (cute and cool) style, his work includes collaborations with major brands McDonald’s, Yuan and DC Comics. The exhibition will be held from October 4, 2024 to January 19, 2025, and was previously held at anime new york August 23-25, 2024.
infinite studio Transforming the gallery into a working design studio, visitors can directly participate in Bright’s creative process. The exhibition will also feature a new series of paintings by Bright, KBK-18 and Ayundrawing on traditional Japanese art and drama.
Dr. Michele Bambling, Gallery Director of the Japan Society, said: “We are delighted to present the Acky Bright exhibition in New York for the first time. The Japan Society has a long history of supporting rising stars and organizing innovative exhibitions. Having just assumed the role of Director of the Japan Society Gallery earlier this year, this exhibition will showcase the future direction of the gallery as an experimental art and design space for exhibitions and multi-media art creation, providing a platform for visitors and artists to meet and create side by side. Partnering with Anime NYC and Kinokuniya Bookstore, we’re extending our reach beyond the gallery to enhance Acky Bright’s appeal.
During the New York Comic Con, Bright appeared at the Japan Society’s booth (1827) to hold live drawing sessions and preview his exhibition. Visitors can purchase exclusive merchandise, including artist-designed T-shirts and tote bags.
The artist shared his vision of connecting Japan to the world through art, saying: “Throughout my career, I have built bridges between my home in Japan and individuals, artists and organizations around the world.” Looking back on his debut in New York, he added: “I am honored to exhibit my art here, my first exhibition in the city. I hope that people of all ages, from the young to Pop culture buffs to seasoned art connoisseurs can enjoy my work and recognize the effort behind it.
