Flickplay and Bandai Namco Entertainment are teaming up to celebrate Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary with a Pokémon Go-like treasure hunt in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.
The event will be held during the DIG Shibuya Festival from February 8 to 11, 2025, and participants can collect Pac-Man-themed NFTs by visiting designated locations.
The event combines location-based gameplay with digital collectibles, paying homage to arcade classics while embracing new technology.
What is Flickplay?
Flickplay is a platform that allows users to interact with NFT-based digital characters in various interactive ways.
The platform supports multiple blockchain ecosystems, including Flow, Ethereum, and Polygon, and allows users to integrate their NFTs into digital experiences. Past collaborations include the Bratz Dolls series, whose characters can be used in Flickplay’s GIF creation tool and virtual games.
Flickplay’s focus goes beyond collectibles to create interoperable NFTs that can be used across platforms and ecosystems.
Event details
The scavenger hunt will take place at more than 40 locations in Shibuya, the community where Pac-Man was first launched in 1980.
Two NFT collections will be available:
- Shibuya limited series: Applies only to those attending the event in person.
- Global Series: After the festival, a separate series will be released for fans around the world.
The event is part of the DIG Shibuya Festival and coincides with Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary.
How to participate?
Participants can purchase experience passes during the pre-sale to attend the event. This pass provides:
- Flickplay’s in-app currency Diamonds are required to claim NFTs.
- Pac-Man digital collectibles as an initial reward.
During the treasure hunt, players will use the app to visit specific locations in Shibuya, where they can redeem diamonds for limited-edition collectibles.
Flickplay also announced that participants will receive “super rare items” as additional rewards, but further details have not yet been revealed.
