Ever since Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be returning to the Marvel Universe as Doctor Doom, Marvel Comics has made sweeping plans to launch its own major Doom storyline A world under the apocalypse. The nine-issue event tells the story of world leaders who pledge allegiance to the world’s new Sorcerer Supreme, created by Ryan North and art RB Silva.
“Doomworld is a story I’ve been working on since 2023,” North previously shared, according to Marvel. “In telling a story like this, this huge lead is truly a gift: I can Making sure everything comes together correctly, for other artists to tie in with their books, I can share the full script and not just an idea of where I want the story to go. It’s exciting to be able to continue this and it’s exciting to hear how other teams plan to take advantage of this new reality in their books – we’re all pulling in the same direction.
“To me, Doomsday is the ultimate villain because even if he loses, he wins,” he continued. “He’s not someone you can beat a bunch of until he stops committing crimes: he’s someone who thinks deeply about how to achieve exactly what he wants, and how to ensure that others are manipulated into supporting him.” The World Under Doom It begins after Doom takes over the world overnight. How he does it, how he gets everyone to acquiesce to his rule, is a mystery – but there’s a bigger, The scarier question: Now that he’s taken over the world, what is he going to do with it? What will the Fantastic Four and the Avengers do to stop him?
“Doom is one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe, so working on this storyline has been a real pleasure,” said Silva. “I love how we’re incorporating magic into it and all the possibilities to make him as good as ever. I’m trying to give the fans something a little different than what we’ve seen before, and I think the magic element can really come into play. I hope the fans We can love it as much as I do.
“Also, there’s a T-Rex version of Doctor Doom in this story, so you know we’re trying to get to that baseline,” North added.

While Doom’s bold quest for power brought change to the entire Marvel Universe, The World of Doom takes readers back behind the mask to witness the triumphs and trials of Doom’s reign and the efforts to overthrow it. Stupid to try.

A world under the apocalypse!
Six months ago, Dr. Victor von Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme and disappeared behind Latveria’s closed borders. For most people, there’s enough going on in the world that Doom’s absence isn’t a priority, and sometimes days without him feel like a blessing. Only a few realize its true meaning…the calm before the storm. Now, a storm has arrived. The world has awakened to a new reality: Dr. Doom, Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, has magically taken over all broadcast media on Earth and declared himself Emperor of the World – Ruler of the New Latvian Commonwealth! Shockingly and incredibly, all the leaders on Earth seem to agree on this. Luckily, whatever affects them, whether it’s mind control or doomsday robots, doesn’t affect Earth’s heroes – so they quickly assemble a strike team to stop Doomsday’s plot. But will they succeed? What happens when some people begin to welcome their new emperor with open arms, shouting about “the end of the world”?
Destroy the World is a complete shift from the status quo at Marvel Comics, the likes of which hasn’t been seen since 2008 Dark Reign. It’s a shocking and game-changing event that will impact Marvel’s entire comic book franchise and see the launch of tie-in series and one-shots that together form an era worthy of comic books’ greatest supervillains!
