November 12, Sony releases new TV commercial The PlayStation 5 will likely be on cable TV and online as parents across the country decide what to buy their kids (or themselves) for Christmas. In an effort to convince people to buy the PlayStation 5, Sony’s new ad announced that the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will be reduced in price to $380.
Usually, a PlayStation 5 Slim digital version costs $450. So that’s a $70 discount. (I’m not factoring in shipping, taxes, etc.) This new temporary discount ends on December 24th, which means you can now buy a PS5 Slim and digital games for the same price you’d normally want to get one Games and a new PS5. That’s fine.
However, keep in mind that this offer only applies to the PS5 Slim Digital Edition. So if you want a PS5 with a disc drive, you’ll have to buy the console or buy the disc drive separately. Uh, good luck to you. It should also be noted that the Slim does not come with a vertical stand. You need to purchase it separately.
Finally, let’s not forget that when the digital-only PS5 originally launched, Only $400. Then, Sony raises prices after launch. So, if you take that into account, that means Sony is selling the PS5 Slim for just $20 less over the holidays than it was four years ago. Blech.
Additionally, this offer does not apply to recently released PS5 Pro still costs $700. It may be Christmas, but Sony won’t be discounting its latest and most expensive gaming console anytime soon. Do you want ray tracing this holiday season? You have to pay back the money.
