It’s the morning of the US presidential election, so I’m here to compile a list of the best comics to buy on November 6th, and luckily there are plenty of great books this week to take your mind off everything for a while, if that’s what you’re after. I was particularly impressed by the variety of games in this week’s lineup. Check out five of my favorites below, along with the usual list of releases, and…enjoy!
The most worth buying comics on November 6, 2024
Alien Vs. Avengers #2
writer: Jonathan Hickman
artist: Esad Ribic
Colorist: Yves Swosina
Writer: Corey Pettit
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The survivors were overwhelmed by the aliens and abandoned their homes!
But so many people died. So many people were injured. There are also some scary changes.
The Avengers must take revenge.
Why it’s cool: This is by Jonathan Hickman alien The film also features Jonathan Hickman’s take on The Avengers, from the team of Esad Ribic and Ive Svorcina The stunning and brutal artwork produced brings it all to life. This is a complex, excellent, high-production comic that absolutely blew me away with its interesting twists, action, and ideas.

FMML #1
writer: Kelly Sue DeConnick
artist: david lopez
Colorist: Chris Peter
Writer: Clayton Cowles
Publisher: dark horse comics
A genre-defying, apocalyptic adventure that follows a group of metal kids as they face a series of strange enemies and encounters in Portland, Oregon, during a global pandemic. Riley was a teenager sketching out his heavy metal future with a ball pen between monster movies and band practice. But the music star’s high school competition, his ex-Riot Grrrl mother’s temper, the goth sisters’ morbid obsessions, and the eccentricities of his bandmates threaten to drive him and those around him crazy. After a ritual at a party in Portland’s Forest Park, the balance becomes more difficult when he wakes up one day and discovers that the world of creatures, witchcraft, and metal he’s become obsessed with may be closer to home than he likes.
Why it’s cool: This is a complex comic about a family that does wonderful things through genre and visual storytelling. This is a confident comic with a smart story that knows how to use its medium. It was absolutely packed with style and charm from start to finish.
price: $4.99
Plastic No More #3
writer: Christopher Cantwell
artist: Alex Lins and Jacob Edgar
Colorist: Marcelo Maiolo
Writer: Becca Kelly
Publisher: DC Comics – Black Label
Plastic Man and Woods encounter some…frustration while trying to capture one of the Metal Men. Well, the setback, to put it mildly, is that now there’s really no turning back for the superheroes they once called allies. As his body becomes increasingly unstable, Plastic Man must turn to an evil ally in the hope of creating a weapon that can cure him – no matter how slim the odds of success…
Why it’s cool: This week, the best (and possibly darkest) superhero character study of the year continues. I absolutely love this comic, and it’s one of those nuanced takes on a deep bench superhero character that finally gives them the treatment they deserve. The dual-artist concept continues to pay off, and the writing is as good as it gets. Don’t miss this one.

One for Sadness #1
Story, Art, Color: Jamie McKelvey
color: Courtney Walkey
letter: Ariana Maher
Publisher: DSTLRY
London in 1900. A terrifying figure sneaks into the city’s underworld at night, leaving behind a trail of bloody corpses. Rumors spread like wildfire about a mysterious killer. This is a demon. A phantom. Avenging angel.
Why it’s cool: I knew the book was going to be good because it was by Jamie McKelvey, but I was simply not prepared for how immersive and complex the comic would feel. This is a very smart book with a fantastic premise and unpredictable but well-earned twists and turns. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to see where this story goes.
price: $8.99
Legend #70
writer: Brian K. Vaughn
artist: Fiona Staples
Writer: phonograph
Publisher: Image comics
People will change.
Why it’s cool: I’ll be honest – unlike the other books on this list, I didn’t have the chance to read Saga before it comes out. However, the book is as strong as ever in this regard. Plus, not only does this cover look great, but it also tells one of the more interesting plot lines that the creative team has been developing, now in its 70th issue. Simply put, Saga Still a must read.
