Horde shooters are hands down one of my favorite game genres, much to the chagrin of my wife. You see, I took them too seriously, and I’m not trying to toot my own horn, I was fine. I regularly topped the leaderboards for kills and targets. So, grow up reading and watching starship troopersthe basic concept of slaying bugs on a galaxy of alien planets—especially in the context of a clan shooter—immediately caught my attention the day it launched into Early Access. Like thousands of players since EA launched, Starship Troopers: Annihilation It took me through countless updates until we finally reached 1.0 in October 2024.
While I’m enamored with the game and its genre, not everyone feels the same way. As of this writing, although Comprehensive positive review, Starship Troopers: Annihilation “Mixed” on Steam. Many players have questioned the game’s performance upon its full release. They said it felt like an Early Access game, filled with bugs, glitches and laggy performance issues that ruined the experience. Not to mention long queue times and frequent desktop crashes plague the matchmaking experience.
Having said that, take a look at the many positive reviews of the game. While you’ll find the usual “the only good bugs are dead bugs” comments parodying lines from the movie, most come from true fans – some of whom have logged hundreds or thousands of hours of gameplay. They tout class diversity, PvE gameplay, cooperative experiences within communities, and swarms of bugs to slaughter on FOB walls. It’s an experience unlike most other experiences.
