hook is a dystopian story about three children after the ocean rebels and absorbs and changes everything on Earth. They are as lost as anyone else, but come together in the unique adversity of survival at sea and with no desire to harm any living thing. It’s a hopeful take on post-apocalyptic media, born out of Rios’ desire to “write the ocean under my skin.”
“The subtitles tell the story in a nostalgic past tense to provide context and hint that a lot has happened since then,” she continued. “To be honest, I don’t like subtitle boxes and generally avoid them at all costs. Use them hook It’s fun, though, because it helps me stay calm and prevent the unthinkable from developing into a mysterious box. I believe that in order to achieve a dense atmosphere, the secret must remain this way, unexplained. So I feel more at ease with all my cards on the table.
“This moment also establishes Lucio as a person who naturally has a sensitivity to the scary or strange,” Rios added.
“There are a lot of fish and birds throughout the book,” Rios explains. “I would say that in this story, the birds are almost invulnerable. They represent a variety of ideas, always beyond our reach. In contrast, the fish are a reflection of human vulnerability in the ocean, but from the mirror’s Seen from the other side.
“I like what the director said Mamoru Oshii This can be translated as: “We cry for the blood of birds, but not for the blood of fish.” Blessed are those who have a voice.
