Why do I think the sexiest scene in the entire drama is the scene where Rika longs to caress Takuya’s bedside? I appreciate that the show tells a story about someone in their twenties while doing so with a fair amount of innocence. While Takuya and Rika have been close to each other since the beginning of this project, this is the first episode where we start to see more casual contact between them. Their lack of experience with people is a double-edged sword because it amplifies their desire and curiosity for each other. It’s an attraction that becomes increasingly difficult for them to ignore and strictly condemns the veneer of a false marriage scheme.
I didn’t expect Rika to be more active and louder at the beginning of the show. It makes sense that loosening the lid would lead to so much information being revealed when you consider that her hobbies lead to her having a lot of information and she doesn’t even have a pet to share it with. If this lid remains open, no matter how much she insists on doing so by the end of the episode, it will become harder to close. She begins to learn more about Takuya’s origins, as well as the more subtle aspects of his character. However, because she is the more proactive of the two, she may be the first to insist that her level of involvement needs to be limited.
One of my main complaints about this episode is that Takuya isn’t enough. Considering this episode is about him facing his family, I’m looking forward to more revelations about him. However, the situation is quickly resolved and most of the episode is seen from Rika’s perspective. I wanted to know more about the relationship between him and his father.
I cringed at Takuya’s conversation with his father, and I felt it when the father started bringing up things from his past to justify attacks on him in the present. It’s something I’m all too familiar with, and it’s funny how his father insists that Takuya does things halfway. I feel like there’s a lot there, especially Takuya trying to refute that statement. From my perspective, my father was at least partly right. Takuya wasn’t the one organizing everything for this fake relationship; Lika is. Even if you try to clear the air with your family, this doesn’t need to happen in person. As Takuya’s father said, this matter could have been resolved at the restaurant two episodes ago. There was a lot to like about this episode, but it still felt like more needed to be done sooner.
