tom cruise is in talks with Paramount Pictures to star in the sequel to his 1990 NASCAR drama day of thunder.
The original film was directed by Tony Scott And by robert soup. This high-octane sports drama follows Cole Trickle (Cruise), a hot-headed young racer who enters the world of NASCAR with big dreams but little experience.
Under the guidance of experienced team captain Harry Hogg, Cole learned how to use his talents to deal with the fierce competition and dangers of professional racing. Initially, Cole’s aggressive style led to a clash with veteran driver Roddy Burns and a challenge that put his career in jeopardy.
Under Harry’s tough tutelage, Cole began to understand the strategy, precision and team effort required to succeed on the track.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Days of Thunder, but I remember it being a pretty good movie. There are currently no details about the film’s creative direction, or additional creative talent. It will be interesting to see who the studio brings in to direct.
Cruise is currently preparing to shoot a new film for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The actor will next star in Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2, which will be released on May 23, 2025.
