batman is a wonderfully dark and fresh take on The Dark Knight’s story, establishing a new Gotham with deep, rich characters we can’t wait to see explored further.
Although we still have to wait nearly two years to see the continuation of the main story batman part 2we did get an in-depth look at the character of Ozzie Cobb in the HBO Max series Penguin. Cobb is skillfully played Colin Farrellfeatures practical makeup and prosthetics.
The series takes place after the end of the first film and tells the story of the rise of Ozzie Cobb. when the movie saw John TurturroCarmine Falcone, a character on the show that tells the history of Cobb and Falcone, passed away.
That meant bringing back the character in flashback scenes throughout the series. But when Emmy Award-winning actor Turturro was approached about the script, he turned it down. instead Mark Strong Taking on the mafia boss.
“I did what I wanted to do with the character,” Turturro explained to Variety. “There’s a lot of violence against women in the show, and that’s not my thing.
Falcone exudes brutality batmanBut in the 2022 movie, his cruelty is implicit rather than stated. “It happens off-screen,” Turturro said. “It’s scarier this way.”
The refusal to return to Gotham is also partly due to the reality that there is more opportunity than time. “You can’t do everything you want to do,” he admits.
Turturro will next appear in the second season of the Apple TV+ hit series severance payand several other films he is producing, including a biopic wilder and mein which he will star opposite Christoph Waltz, Maya Hawkeand Jon Hamm.
