Persephone in Hadestown Costume | Carbon Costume

Persephone (created on Broadway by Amber Gray) is the wife of Hades in the musical Hadestown. Persephone would spend half the year on earth and half the year in the underworld with her husband. In the musical, this balance is disrupted, with Persephone spending less and less time above ground with Hermes, Orpheus, and Eurydice, which results in increasingly bad weather. Persephone’s costume is designed to evoke the hopeful greenery of spring. It’s hard to find an exact replica of her bright green dress, so don’t be afraid to play with layers and texture to sculpt your silhouette. Try layering a lace tunic underneath a pale yellow sleeved blouse and pairing it with a green asymmetrical skirt. You’ll need a flower crown for your hair, black tights and boots, and a handbag with floral details. Finish the look with a luxurious faux fur coat.
