NetEase and Bungie have announced a new Destiny mobile game called Destiny Rising. The sci-fi role-playing game is set in a “parallel timeline” in the Destiny universe and features what NetEase calls “best-in-class” shooting action on mobile devices.
The game promises “an all-new adventure with familiar and new characters,” as well as “a rich collection of classic and all-new modes.” Closed alpha testing will begin in November—you can pre-register now. In September, a “Destiny” mobile game from Bungie and NetEase was leaked. In 2018, it was reported that NetEase would provide Bungie with $100 million to produce non-Destiny games. Maybe that arrangement has changed, as Destiny Rising is definitely a Destiny game, or there could be more titles between Bungie and NetEase.
In addition to Destiny Rising, Bungie is also working on a survival shooter called Marathon, and apparently has other projects as well. Bungie is undergoing significant changes in 2024, including large-scale layoffs affecting several high-level employees. Additionally, some people within Bungie are joining a new team at parent company Sony to develop a new action game.
