What if the Roman Empire never fell, but instead discovered gasoline and the Gatling gun? This is the alternate history presented by Turkish developer GHST Studios in Dieseldome: Oil And Blood, a new demo released on Steam as part of Steam Next Fest.
Dieseldome mixes gameplay elements from Doom and Vampire Survivor, putting players in the role of a gladiator condemned to die in combat. They must then fight their way through fast-paced first-person action, where speed and mobility play a role in each battle – players can bounce off obstacles and run along walls as they fight.
Defeating enemies, completing parkour-style challenges, and winning “bets” (the equivalent of Dieseldome’s missions) earns you XP, which unlocks power-ups for the rest of the run. At the end of a run, players will receive in-game money, which can then be used to purchase permanent upgrades for future runs.
Dieseldome’s new demo is part of Steam Next Fest, a regular event hosted by Steam that focuses on emerging indie games and their developers. Some of the games featured in the October 2024 Steam Next Fest event will be held from October 14th to 21st, including murder mystery game The Rise Of The Golden Idol, 3D platformer Virballs, and single-player MMO Erenshor.
Dieseldome: Oil And Blood is set to launch on PC, but a release date has not yet been announced as of this writing. The Steam Next Fest demo is now available for download.
