We’ve finally reached the furthest point in the Black Ops timeline – Black Ops 3.
The world in Black Ops 3 is deeply affected by the death of Raul Menendez at the end of Black Ops 2, and since that fateful day, the planet has found itself on the brink of destruction. Driven by widespread anarchy, ongoing global instability, and the increasingly looming threat of climate change, the world’s superpowers have united to form two important global alliances: the Winslow Accords and the Mutual Defense Treaty.
In addition to this, there have been huge technological advances in the field of directed energy weapons, with the development of a system called Directed Energy Air Defense (DEAD for short) that has rendered the world’s air forces completely useless. The result of all this is, other The Cold War has begun, the third in a century by our count, and covert operations are back on the menu, so there’s going to be more black ops going into the 21st century.
Regardless, things get confusing from here on out. After completing the first two campaign missions, which are set in the year 2065, the remainder of Black Ops 3 can be played in any order you choose, including the game’s final mission. That’s because it’s all a dream.
In short: artificial intelligence simulation. The longer the answer, the more time it will naturally take to break it down. First, in Black Ops 3 you can create your own character and take on the role of this new recruit in the Winslow Accords black ops mission to rescue the Egyptian Prime Minister from the factions of the Nile Alliance
The player character can be male or female, depending on the player’s choice. Their CO, Jacob Hendricks, successfully rescues the Egyptian leader, but during the escape, things go a little less smoothly for the player. By side, we mean the player’s arms being ripped off by a robot. Oh yeah, there are a lot of droids roaming around in the Black Ops timeline right now, too.
The player character is rescued at the last minute by a young man named Commander John Taylor, who is the key to it all. You see, despite their severe injuries, the player characters have regained their health by augmenting their bodies with a host of technologies.
While the rest of the game seems to consist of your cyborg recruits running the action in the year 2070, the reality is quite different. That’s because of the character created by the player actually dead Due to their robot attacks, the rest of the game is basically an artificial intelligence simulation taking place in the mind of their savior, John Tyler.
Simply put, the events you encounter in Black Ops 3 are simulations of Tyler’s past adventures that occurred before the game begins.
The key to how all of this works is a new technology called Direct Neural Interface (DNI), which allows all CIA members to remain networked in their own minds. DNI was attacked by an artificial intelligence system called Corvus, which was basically created as a result of some shady human experiments on DNI by a technology company called Coalescent Corporation.
In the events leading up to the 2060 game, a massive explosion occurred at United Headquarters in Singapore as Corvus came online, this explosion caused a chain reaction that pumped unhealthy amounts of Nova-6 into the surrounding area. What’s the end result? 300,000 people died. oops. Fast forward to 2064, Taylor and his team (consisting of Jacob Hendricks and Rachel Kane) are sent to investigate a CIA black site in Singapore, when another Central Intelligence Agency The Intelligence team is plunged into darkness, which leads them down a rabbit hole and discover the truth behind Corvus.
In a nutshell, it revolves around the search for a young lad named Dylan Stone and his missing CIA team, who are all involved in the deactivation of the CIA website in Singapore. In the process of searching for Stone, Taylor and his companions. They venture deep into United’s corporate headquarters in Singapore, where they discover that Stone is trying to leak intelligence about the CIA’s ties to the shady tech company and its links to the Singapore disaster. With the CIA compromised, Taylor and his team must go it alone, which sets them off on a good old adventure to find Stone.
In the process, they methodically eliminate members of Stone’s team, driving a wedge between Taylor and Hendrix, who begins to question the morality of their mission.
