Episodes of Destiny 2: Revenant put a heavy emphasis on the stasis ability, offering a series of unlockable mods on its artifacts that greatly enhance the freezing abilities and weapons of all enemies. All of these buffs make the Exuviae (the new Stasis hand cannon for this episode) a handy primary weapon for Stasis synergy. That said, you’ll probably want Exuviae for its PvP capabilities, as it gives you a lot of range and accuracy.
How to get Exuviae
Like most new guns that drop every act of every episode, the first Exuviae you’re likely to encounter will be as a reward for completing a (simple and quick) story mission in The Revenant’s first act. The difference is that in Echoes, Exuviae isn’t craftable – so in order to get the rolls you like, you’ll need to keep farming more versions of the gun.
Exuviae may be dropped from the Onslaught of the Dead: Redemption event. It can appear from reward chests you earn as you pass waves in this mode, but like the original Onslaught event, you can also “tweak” your rewards to make Exuviae more likely to pop out of those chests. To do this, you need to unlock the nourishing recipe in Eido’s Apothecary. Taking a power-up supplement focused on the Exuviae Hand Cannon will increase how often you get it as a 20-minute onslaught bonus, but you’ll need to get the recipe right first. See our supplemental guide to learn how to do this.
Exuviae Scroll
Exuvia PvP God Scroll
- bucket: spiral rifling
- Stability +5, handling +5, range +5
- Magazine: Exact round
- First benefit: keep away
- Increases reload, range, and accuracy when no enemies are nearby.
- Second benefit: Precision instruments
- Dealing damage over time increases precision damage
- masterpiece: Stablize
Exuviae’s power in PvP is within its efficient range. It’s generally a good idea to increase the range stat for PvP weapons, and it pairs well with keeping distance, which allows you to gain more benefits by keeping distance from your opponents. Precision Instruments further utilizes Keep Distance and your range stat to provide a damage boost to your precise hits, as long as you don’t miss. With great range and keeping your distance, you’ll ideally be able to interact with other players from a distance, it’s hard for them to be as effective as you, especially if you’re accurate, you should be able to take down other Guardians in no time.
Exuviae PvE God Scroll
- bucket: Fluted barrel
- Stability +5, handling +15
- Magazine: Flared Magwell
- Stability +5, reload speed +15
- First benefit: Rhyme Stealer
- Using this weapon to destroy stasis crystals or defeat frozen enemies will grant you Frost Armor.
- Second benefit: tombstone
- A precise final strike will spawn a static crystal at the target location.
- masterpiece: Control/reloading speed
Exuviae comes with some very useful stasis synergies, although it relies heavily on landing precision kills to create as many stasis crystals as possible. The combination of Headstone and Rimestealer is very powerful: every time you use Exuviae to break a stasis crystal or kill a frozen enemy, you gain Frost Armor, making you harder to kill. The Stasis Crystal itself is very powerful right now, so this is a gun that will work well with the Stasis build and protect you. Increase its stability stat to make precision strikes a little easier, and improve handling where possible to quickly switch to secondary weapons like the grenade launcher.
