DC Studios is looking for a strong cast for the upcoming Green Lantern series lanternand Kyle Chandler Get ready to play Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre Play the role of John Stewart.
Now, according to @MyTimeToShineH , we’ve learned Kelly MacDonald (brave, seaside empire, radley family) has been given one of the series’ two female leads.
The news was also supported by Nexus Point News, which added: “She will play [town’s] Sheriff and Hal Jordan’s love interest. It’s unclear whether the character will be an original character or Carol Ferris.
In the comics, Carol Ferris is Hal Jordan’s love interest and Star Sapphire’s alter ego. The daughter of Ferris Aircraft Company owner Carl Ferris, she eventually took over as CEO of the company, often working alongside Hal, who was both her employee and her lover.
When she discovers that she is possessed by a Star Sapphire, she transforms into the Star Sapphire. The gem grants her similar abilities to Green Lantern, including flight, energy projection, and the creation of powerful light constructs.
Using gems will also change her personality. Over time, Carol Ferris struggled between the roles of hero and villain, sometimes opposing the Green Lantern Corps but ultimately fighting for love and justice.
Apparently, if Carol was actually going to be the town sheriff in the series, they were completely reinventing the character. But maybe MacDonald is playing a different role.
Regardless, if Macdonald does end up starring in the series, she would be a great addition to the DCU.
The series will focus on new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, “two intergalactic police officers who become entangled in a dark Earthly mystery while investigating a murder in America’s heartland.”
