Michigan-based board game company Carrom is back on the market under new management. Originally developed in Ludington, Michigan in 1889, the company is known for its unique and sustainable wooden board game boards, including products such as Skittles, Nok Hockey, and multi-game boards that enable players to play up to 85 Different games using a board.
A group of investors is shifting the company’s focus toward e-commerce operations and new brands. The company’s new core principles are simulation play, tactile play and togetherness, while maintaining the company’s commitment to providing long-lasting entertainment products for families. Investors in the group include Grand Forks Holdings, led by Ian Sheffield, Jennifer Taylor and Bradley Taylor. With Sheffield’s investment knowledge and the Taylors’ business background, the company looks forward to seeing how Carome’s marketing strategy develops.
During the revival, Carrom also partnered with health insurance company Aflac to donate hundreds of football games to Columbus, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina. Bradley Taylor shares the process behind the donation: “When we recently purchased hundreds of foosball tables, our first instinct was to find them happy homes, benefit nonprofits, and put them to good use . We weren’t sure how to make this happen, so we reached out to our friends at Aflac to ask if they could help identify suitable beneficiaries. Now, we’re excited to share that the communities of Columbus, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. The kids love our many foosball tables! It’s sure to be a lot of fun thanks to Aflac for helping us provide entertainment for these worthy charities.
