In 2022, Color Gray Studio and Playstack launched The Case Of The Golden Idol — a point-and-click investigation game centered around gilded totems — and it became an instant hit. Now, after announcing the follow-up at last year’s The Game Awards, Color Gray and Playstack have confirmed that Rise of the Golden Idol will launch on November 12, with a new demo now available on Steam.
Rise of the Golden Idol continues the story of the cursed antique, taking place in the 1970s – 300 years after the events of the first game with the Crossley family. The new story tells the story of a relic hunter who hears the story of the Golden Goddess and decides to find the ancient artifact himself.
This new adventure will span 20 separate cases, each featuring the same clue-gathering, crime scene investigation gameplay that made the first game so successful. However, there will be several new enhancements to the formula, including movable viewports for quick lead comparison and automatic keyword collection—no more frantic clicking on each scene.
As for the original game, The Case Of The Golden Idol Redux – an enhanced version of the original story and its downloadable bonus chapters Spiders of Lanka and Vampires of Lemuria – is available today on all platforms as Free updates are provided. This updated version includes an overhauled UI, a new prompt system, and support for up to 12 languages, including Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Spanish (Spanish and Latin American versions).
Rise of the Golden Idol will launch on November 12 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices.
