The latest episode of “Chicago Fire” really gave me a tear, and the hits just kept coming for the entire hour.
In “Chicago Fire” Season 13 Episode 3, there were several tense storylines running parallel to each other.
We’re breaking down everything from Seyfried’s arson investigation to the tension between Carver and Violet and everything in between.
everyone loves love
Relationships are a big theme of the hour, and the episode begins with a quick Stellaride scene.
I’m pretty confident Stella won’t hold it against Kelly for knowing what Damon did, but confirmation would be nice.
It’s only a brief moment between the couple, but it’s enough to remind us that they truly face things as a team.
My love for these two surprises even myself, considering I was firmly against Stellaride before this season started.
But they do know how to support each other in times of need, and always have each other’s back.
We see Kelly jump at the chance to defend Stella, and we see Stella give Kelly the pep talk he needs during his lowest moments. We love a couple that supports each other.
The latest on the sinking ship
There’s some movement on the Cavallet front, and it’s not good.
At least, not for those still shipping these two products. (Sorry, I’m firmly on Team Vizzie right now.)
We would all be better off if Carver wasn’t with his possessive new girlfriend.
But instead, he brings Tori into a sacred space, which gives her the confidence she needs to make vague threats to Violet.
Sorry, but Carver did tell Violet he was in love with her a few weeks ago.
I know Tori is jealous, but maybe Carver is the one she should accept instead of deleting texts from her phone like a creep.
Newcomers capture our hearts
Violet has long been my favorite Chicago Fire character, but Novak may have narrowly surpassed her.
Jocelyn Hudon’s performance is great every week, and the latest episode is no exception.
Novak is new, but she’s wasting no time in integrating herself into 51.
This is indeed a good thing. She shows up to Violet as a friend (maybe more eventually if I’m lucky) and is incredibly capable at her job.
Plus, Novak’s devotion to Violet is clear from the look on Tori’s face when she starts talking at the bar.
No matter what happens, my biggest hope for Lizzie is that whatever is brewing between Damon and her ends in failure.
Guess who got fired in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 3?
Speaking of Damon, can we all say a collective “Thank you, Chief Pascal” for calling him out?
Not that Pascal didn’t prove himself problematic throughout the episode (we’ll get to that), but at least we can get behind the decision.
Leading up to this episode, there was a lot of speculation and fear about who he would fire, and luckily, it wasn’t Stella.
Pascal gave me a misogynistic vibe, and he was obviously there for Stella, but at least he took Mochi’s late-night confrontation to heart and fired the right people.
Damon was already on my list, but now, he’s dead to me.
How dare he tell Kelly he’s just like Benny?
First, Kelly went to great lengths to become a person that he (and Stella) could be proud of.
Secondly, Damon only Meet his half-brother.
At the very least, if you’re going to insult someone, take a moment to get to know them first.
Also, how immature it is for Damon to be angry at Seyfried for supporting his wife.
I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Damon, but we can’t miss his presence around the fire station.
Maybe this means Cruz can relax a little now, too, since he was so worried about Kelly and Damon working together in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 1 .
Pascal remains a mystery, Ritter faces death
By the way, Pascal has some incredibly toxic personal issues and I can’t wait to learn more about his backstory.
His wife seems to get a kick out of violent displays of toxic masculinity, so I guess it’s… good for them?
I bet we’ll see a Pascal-centric episode soon that will reveal his and Monica’s history (and everything that happened in Miami).
The biggest event of this episode was Ritter’s brush with death, and when I tell you I’m worried, I mean it.
The blow he received was severe and he fell lifelessly to the ground as Violet and Lizzie tended to him.
I’ve said before how important Ritter’s character is to the OneChicago universe, especially for LGBTQ+ representation, so losing him would be devastating.
Thankfully, Ritter recovers quickly and we even get a scene of Dwayne, Violet, and Lizzie in the hospital room.
I love the idea of the four of them developing a friendship outside of work, and I hope the writers explore that more!
Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 3 Healthier Manliness
Plus, I can’t get over how sweet it was that Herman was working with Ritter on the whole scare.
Herman is very fond of Ritter, which is evident in several displays of emotion in this episode.
It was also pretty special to see him share his feelings for Dwayne, finally giving him his seal of approval and telling Ritter not to mess up the relationship.
One of my favorite things about this show has always been the healthy dose of masculinity displayed by some of the “manliest” men in the firehouse.
Herman and Mauch have done a great job of keeping that energy going so far this season.
Pascal may be a different story, but time will tell.
This time is a four star episode for me, but I’d like to hear your thoughts!
Is Pascal swayed by Mochi’s visit, or does he have some sinister plan for Stella?
Come and chat in the comments! Next Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC we’ll have a brand new episode of Chicago Fire.
