GKids releases trailer for upcoming animated film ghost cat anzupremiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
The film tells the story of 11-year-old Karin, who is abandoned by her father at the home of her grandfather, a Buddhist monk in a rural Japanese town. Her grandfather asks his ghost cat Anzu, a cheerful and helpful, albeit rather willful, ghost cat to look after her. When these two strong characters meet, sparks fly, at least at first…
ghost cat anzuOriginally titled “Bakeneko Anzu-chan”, it was co-directed by two Japanese film producers Ancient Yoko (Character designer/storyboard artist/director of the “Glory Land” series)& Nobuhiro Yamashita (director “Hazy Life”, “Unmanned Ark”, “Rambler”, “Cream Lemon”, “Linda Linda Linda”, “The Pine Gold Incident”, “Village Breeze”, “My Back Page” , “Hard Work Train”, “Mizono Universe”, “Beyond the Fence”, “My Uncle”, Takayuki Yamada, “Hard” – core, one second ahead and one second behind, let’s go to karaoke!,etc).
The script is written by Now Ama Shinji;Adapted from comics Imajo Takashi. Produced by Shinei Animation (Japan) and Miyu Productions (France).
