The son of a famous Macedonian physician, Aristotle continued his studies in Athens and became one of Plato’s favorite disciples. A great scholar, he even served as personal tutor to Alexander the Great, Ptolemy, and Cassander. For many this would have been the pinnacle of their careers, but Aristotle went on to found his own school, the Lyceum. There he imparts his knowledge and enthusiasm to any student wishing to embark on an intellectual and philosophical journey.
Almost all of Aristotle’s surviving works are considered teaching materials for his many students. The fact that many of these works had such an impact on various schools of Western thought, even though it was never intended for publication, only adds to Aristotle’s legacy. Papadatos and Apostolidis have poured their passion and care into faithfully reconstructing his life in an illuminating graphic novel.
