Cavill: Winning is everything, stupid man It is also one of the 10 outstanding documentaries of 2024 that will be highlighted at the upcoming SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where Tenauer will appear on the 11th annual “Documentaries to Watch” panel on October 30 .
Film buffs may remember that Cavill was the star of another documentary 31 years ago, Chris Hegedus and DA Pennebakerof war roomchronicling the 1992 presidential campaign bill clinton Supervised by “Ragin’ Cajun”. (Remember “It’s the Economy, Dumb”?) The long shadow of this classic may have scared off other filmmakers from further documenting Cavill, but not Tynauer. “James was the subject of a great documentary and people remembered it decades later, which is very rare for any film,” Tiernauer told THR August. “But now more than 30 years later, James Carville is a household name rather than an emerging comet in the political arena. He has had a huge and illustrious career in the public eye, and his marriage is almost as politically public in nature. is unique. The fact is, he hasn’t been examined in decades, so I think there’s a lot of material there. And then the 2024 election comes around.
Tiernauer never expected that his Cavell doc would end up so dedicated to his subject, leading the charge in convincing Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, more than a year after a disastrous debate led many other Democrats to do the same position. “I shot with him at his home in New Orleans,” the filmmaker recalled. “In May 2023, ABC News reported—washington post Polls show Biden is losing to Trump. James read the numbers on camera, and then we went and filmed him making morning phone calls – which he did every day – to the same people who were foxhole buddies from the ’92 Clinton campaign. At that point, James had a lightbulb moment and realized that, for all his expertise, Biden was indeed in danger of losing; this was a “change election”; nothing could compare to Joe Biden versus Joe Biden. Explain this Donald Trump. So he started pressuring, and that became a major storyline that I started following in this movie.
