French company Tanuko is taking pre-orders for retail copies of Love Saves the Planet, a Blu-ray boxed anthology Osamu TezukaTV special. The company launched a crowdfunding campaign for the set in July, but it fell short of its goal.

The Blu-ray will come with English, French and Spanish subtitles. The outer packaging of the collector’s box set has the look of a 1980s television set, and each Blu-ray disc has its own packaging, similar to a VHS tape. It will also include a book with complete storyboards Undersea Super Train: Ocean Express Animation by Philippe Bunel Tezuka Animation book, eight postcards featuring key artwork from each anime, and two lenticular cards for display in a collector’s box.
Tanuko launched a crowdfunding campaign for the set on Kiss Kiss Bank in July. The campaign’s goal was 300 bookings and reached 137 bookings before it ended on August 9th. Osamu Tezuka was a prolific manga artist who created many influential works, including Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor Leo, blackjack, princess knight, Dororoand Phoenix etc. These works would go on to inspire comic stories and art for generations to come, earning him the nickname “The God of Comics.” Equally important is the fact that he founded Cooking production studio, where he will be responsible for producing animated adaptations of most of his comics, as well as other original works. Perhaps the most important of these is Astro Boyadapted from the manga by Osamu Tezuka, became Japan’s first half-hour animated series. The play pioneered animation technology and production methods, and gave birth to the earliest aesthetics and style of television animation.
