The first four “Walkers” specials have been remastered into 4K versions and are available on this UHD format disc. If you don’t have a 4K player, here’s a standard Blu-ray that contains all the shorts, as well as The Curse of the Were-Rabbit movie and Cracking Device – a series of mini-episodes about Wallace’s bizarre musings to make your life more enjoyable easy. You’ll also get audio commentaries for all four shorts, interviews with creators Nick Park and Peter Lord, a stills gallery, and some informative behind-the-scenes features.
The set can also be displayed on a shelf, as the box resembles Wallace’s iconic suitcase and contains blueprints and stickers for some of his inventions. Just make sure the evil penguin doesn’t get his evil little flippers on it.
If you’ve never seen the adventures of Wallace and Gromit, you’re missing out on something special. The series kicked off with 1989’s One Big Day, which saw the pair heading to the moon in search of cheese, and a few years later in 1993, the pair tangled with notorious penguin Feathers McGraw , the latter bent on stealing a pair of technology products. The cheese-loving inventor and his dog returned in 1995’s A Close Shave, and they hit the big screen in 2005, reappearing in a short film for 2008’s Bread and Death.
Sadly, Peter Sallis, the original voice actor for Wallace, passed away in 2017, but the pair will return in Revenge, which is set to be released on Netflix on December 25, 2024. In addition to Wallace and Gromit, Aardman Animation has produced several other cult classic films.
Chicken Run remains a cult escape movie, and the animation studio branched out into CGI animation with the excellent Flushed Away , featuring the voice of everyone’s favorite Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman.
