I’d do anything for Moo Deng, but her popularity has caused the price of the Hippopotamus minion in Final Fantasy 14 to skyrocket.
You know her, you love her, she is Moo Deng, she, the it girl of summer. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her since I discovered her, she was a daily source of joy in my life and I will miss her terribly when the internet stops caring about her and the algorithm decides it no longer wants to show what she meant to me. Moo Deng is something of a minor troublemaker, both in real life and online, as it turns out that thanks to her, those following Final Fantasy XIV’s hippo-calf minions are willing to pay big bucks for it.

As some fans shared online, the Hippopotamus Minion once sold for 17,400 Gil on the low end and 25,000 Gil on the high end, and now some people are asking for as much as 300,000 Gil just for the honor of owning it. There are some that are more reasonable, charging less than 30,000, but I’m sure that will change soon once they see they can gouge the prices. However, this is a supply and demand market, if there is demand for Moo Deng and you have the supply, why wouldn’t you take advantage of some unlucky Hyur?

Moo Deng’s popularity is so high that even Final Fantasy XIV’s official English Twitter account shared a post about her on Twitter the other day, featuring a picture of a hippopotamus minion getting splashed with water GIF, aptly titled: “Carefree” . Nourishing my alley.
I’m sure the price will eventually come down, but I do feel sorry for a Final Fantasy XIV player who has never heard of Moo Deng and only wanted to buy the minion because they realized they didn’t have it in their Tiny. The perfect collection for men.
