Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions recently unveiled a ton of new footage and details for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at the Tokyo Game Show, and Kojima also said he knows the game’s release date. But unfortunately for fans, he won’t make the announcement until 2025.
According to VGC, he said on TGS: “I haven’t revealed the release date today, but the release date has been confirmed and I am currently preparing for it.” He confirmed that the release date of “Death Stranding 2” will be “sometime in 2025″ time” announced.
“Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to make an announcement today,” he said. The developers didn’t elaborate on what those scenarios might be.
Kojima is good friends with Geoff Keighley, who hosts The Game Awards every December. Some speculated that Kojima might reveal the game’s release date there, but that doesn’t appear to be the case, although plans can always change. The game was previously announced to be released in 2025.
As part of Kojima’s partnership with the company, Death Stranding 2 will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Kojima Productions has also collaborated with A24 on the Death Stranding movie, as well as several other games, including Xbox exclusive OD and spy game Physint.
The original Death Stranding came out in 2019 and caused polarization. It’s a strange journey into extinction, anchored by performances from Hollywood stars like Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen. The sequel is very similar to the first game, looking unique and strange. You can check out the latest gameplay footage in the video above.
