RoboCop may have been trying for years to get another big screen entry, but the IP is far from dead. Last year, RoboCop: Rogue City wowed us with a very solid AA experience, and now Amazon plans to make the most of the IP after acquiring MGM’s entire library.

In addition to Oko (who has been locked in as writer, executive producer and showrunner), prolific horror action director James Wan is currently considering a reboot of “Creature from the Black Lagoon”, which he will serve under Atomic Monsters. Executive Producer.
Variety also shared the current official synopsis for the show, which reads: “A tech giant teams up with a local police department to combat rising crime by launching a technologically advanced law enforcer – a half-human man. Machine police. No surprises here.
Perhaps the most interesting bit here is Ocko’s involvement. His resume is impressive, and his work on Dinosaurs, a deeply satirical show with one of the wildest endings in TV history, in a new riff on Paul Verhoeven’s original film, It feels perfect. While José Padilha’s 2014 reboot wasn’t entirely terrible, it lacked a lot of the excitement surrounding the original characters and Detroit nature.
If the RoboCop vehicle doesn’t hit too many roadblocks, we might be looking at casting news coming out sometime in 2025. Funny; Peter Weller’s performance is still iconic, but I personally don’t think Joel Kinnaman’s performance in the reboot was too bad.
