As you probably know, every year, fans of many favorite TV shows are forced to say goodbye when their favorite show ends. On the other hand, there is a long list of canceled shows every year that simply cannot find an audience. Last year, as Hollywood went on strike and the television industry shrank, the number of canceled shows for 2023 surged to more than 140.
To be honest, 2024 will probably be the same. As various streaming services raise prices and add ads to their plans in an attempt to turn a profit, cutting shows that don’t have a big enough audience to justify their existence will make financial sense. Likewise, as favorite shows get older, they become more expensive. Even The Walking Dead, one of television’s biggest blockbusters, ultimately no longer makes as much financial sense when it wraps up in 2022, replaced by a new spin-off series.
It’s still early in the year, but we’ve already tracked down a long list of shows that have been axed this year. Be sure to bookmark this story as we’ll be updating the list regularly as shows are cancelled.
Remember: Just because they’re canceled doesn’t mean you can’t still watch them streaming somewhere — unless they’re canceled due to tax write-offs and could theoretically disappear from the face of the earth. Then again, maybe they’ll all end up on the Roku channel.
